Halo: Infinite

It’s been a long time coming, but we finially have some concrete video for Halo: Infinite – AKA, Halo 6. It looks…good:

I gotta say, the gameplay itself looks like a cross between Halo 5 and something else. What that something else is, I’m not sure. It looks fast paced and very much like H5. I was never a fan of sprint, or clamber and they’re both there, but that’s not the end of the world. The grappling hook is neat, I hope it doesn’t turn into something stupid though.

All in all, I’m excited for it. I will buy it of course, but will I play it again, or will I 100% it and then uninstall it to go back to the good ol’days? That remains to be seen.

Here’s the official trailer:

The mighty engines of the SR-71

There are few airplanes as interesting as the SR-71. For those who don’t know (hopefully not many), it’s the fastest manned air breathing aircraft. That’s a mouthful isn’t it? Basically, like everything humans do, instead of simple “fastest aircraft ever”, we had to come up with a bunch of other criteria to subclass everything.

Anyway, the power of the SR-71 comes from it’s engines. Watching the video above to learn about all the crazy engineering that went into place to get the world’s fastest plane built. The video reminds me of those cutaway books you’d read as a kid. Except now it’s animated and narrated..

Goldeneye The way it was meant to be seen

For anyone who grew up with a Nintendo 64, GoldenEye 007 was the game to have.  The story behind it is pretty crazy, but I won’t get into copying it’s Wikipedia entry.  The below video takes some of the famous scenes from the video game which also happened in the movie (for a movie adaption, it was pretty good).  However, all the sound effects and music come from the video game version.  That’s right, the ridiculous slaps, gun noises, cries, everything.  It’s all from the video game.  It’s quite hilarious to be honest.

This time of year, you have to remember the good old days, before there were achievements, when you and your siblings were just trying to see how many Russians you could kill with the rocket launcher and infinite ammo before you got bored of the level.  When you turned on DK mode (easily the best hidden cheat since the Konami code) and pile up the hats of the dead Russians as you killed them.  Ah, what times…

Pearl Harbor

December 7th, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

Pearl Harbor

The world changed that day.  Mostly for the better but everyone now-a-days is up in arms about what could have and should have been.  Today is not the day to talk about could haves, it’s a day to remember the loss of life and the way our nation, and the world’s life changed forever.  The Attack on Pearl Harbor changed things, but it set about a series of events that led to today.  And today you an I are reading this blog, and watching other world events happening in front of our eyes.  Had things been different who knows what would have happened, but today is a day of Infamy.

The Hummer H1

I love the Hummer.  If I could have any car in the world, that would be it.  Sure it’s got terrible gas mileage.  Sure it’s massive and wouldn’t fit up my driveway.  Sure it’s excessive.  But it’s just so damn cool.  I don’t need toe $200k version.  I’m OK with an army surplus one from eBay.

75 Years of D-Day

D-Day

The passage of time move slowly yet surly forward.  It cannot be stopped, rewound, or ignored.  Sometimes it seems like it’s paused when we go to sleep, but it moves on with or without our knowledge and most of all, without our blessing.  In the grand scheme of things, 75 years is not a long time.  For many millions of people it’s a lifetime.  For many thousands of people, 75 years ago was a turning point in their lives.  Today we remember the sacrifice they made to ensure freedom throughout the world.

Take some time out of your busy day to remember what happened 75 years ago.  Be thankful that you weren’t required to go through hell and back then, and be thankful that you don’t have to now.

Earth Day

Welcome to Earth, 3rd Rock from the Sun.  Today is the day that we celebrate it.  I’m not sure why, something from the 1970s.  Anyway despite what you might think you know about me, I do support the earth.  I like it, I love it, I want some more of it.  In fact, I’ve gone far out of my way to visit some of it’s most beautiful places.

Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about the National Parks of the United States of America.  Currently there are 61 of them.  (Whether or not some actually deserve to be named parks is up for debate, but not here).  I have been to 28 of them.  Not everyone is represented on my website yet as a full review, (there’s not enough time in the day), but I have photos from them all.  I’m not posting 28 photos here, just some of my favorites.  So, check out the jump, read all about it, and remember, stay in school.
