How to Quit, Like a BOSS

I Quit!

Take a second to read through that whole thing.  At first it seems random, but after the 3rd month, you can figure out that he’s trying to spell something.  The q is kinda off and hard to get.

You can also tell that this person works in Europe, if, Germany to be specific, only there do they get 30 days off a year.

Although, from his comments, this is more of a reward for working so long, and not a usual thing.  Either way, still pretty boss I think.

DIY Meteorite Ring

Finished Meteorite ring

That right there is a ring made from a meteorite that reddit user laporkenstein made himself.  Yes, you read that correctly, a ring made from a meteorite, by himself.  Hand forged, and formed with some nickel and steel.

Hot ring

Look at that hot steel and meteorite right there, dangerously cool, that is.

Pollished Ring

Personally, I don’t really like this polished steel look, I like the grain of the top photo better, much better.

And, this is how it all started:

starting the process

He uploaded an album to Imgur, if it’s stats are to be believed, it’s currently up to over 5TB of bandwidth, damn.  Anyway, you should really take alook through that album, since it’s pretty well worth it because there’s alot of effort that went into it.

I never realized how much actual metal went into it.  It looks like there’s enough there for like 3 rings, (so either he made one and has extra, or I have no idea how much volume is needed for a piece of jewelry like this)  Most likely it’s a combination of both of those.

If you read through the comments on reddit you see he got his meteorite from an Australian site, rocks on fire.  Which, is a pretty classy website circa 1999.  Complete with open every link in a new window/tab functionality.  Sweet.

MS Paint Musical Theater

Soundcloud user R2Bl3nd imported the paint.exe program from Windows 7 x64 into some audio software and interpurted it as an audio file.  Apparently this is called PCM data.  I’ve just discovered what that is and what it means.  But I will boil it down to this.  It interprets the .exe file as audio data.  Digital audio, and then outputs it.  It’s pretty interesting, and all I want to do now is find the software the allows you do do that, and throw every .exe file I have into it.

I’m alittle sketchy on the whole process, and to be honest, I don’t really care that much.

I read some of stallio’s blog post about the process he uses.  Except, it’s far too confusing and complicated, and like I said above, I just don’t care that much.

I think it’s a pretty chill audio track, you should listen to it, then listen to the other ones.  Firefox reminds me of black helicopters. And Windows 7 x64 explorer.exe reminds me of The Imperial MarchiTunes is pretty boring.  I couldn’t find Chrome, or Trillian, or VLC, but I’d like to see/hear them, maybe I should look for how to use those programs.  Maybe someone can give me some better advice.

Mario Bathroom

Reddit user Kueeny created one of the best themed bathrooms I have ever seen.  Ok, not fair, it’s the only themed bathroom I’ve ever seen, but regardless, it’s pretty ace.

Game Over Towel

I love that towel.

warp pipe

That’s one warp pipe that you definitely do not want to go down.

On reddit she claims that she made the trash can out of paint and Jameson, and that she got some of the custom stuff like the decals, and soap dish from the internetz.  The one thing she doesn’t say is how long it all took.  But it doesn’t really look like too big of a bathroom, so it’s probably not that long.

For bonus points, I think she should hang some pictures from Super Mario 64 on her walls, that would finish the whole effect I think.

Here’s some more pictures.

The powers of the Internet, used for good?

I’m not sure what this says about the internet, and everything I’ve grown to love about it, but somehow, someone was able to convince the people of Reddit that yes, we are a good people.  Operation Birthday Boy was begun on 4chan, of all places, and using their powers of stalkerness, began to throw William Lashua, a member of America’s Greatest Generation, a birthday party.

Soon, someone claiming to be William’s grandson posted a thread on Reddit, pleading the internet to not show up, because, being the internet, it was likely to show up with things on the left side of this picture:

Except, the dinosaur would be a furry dinosaur, the bathing suit wearing girl would be a naked girl, and the jets in the background would be actual Russian fighter jets that had nothing better to do today.

Well, luckily there were no furry dinosaurs, and unluckily there were no loitering Russian jets, cause come on, that would be ace.  There were girls, but the pictures of the event do nay prove if they were naked, or bathing suit wearing, so we’ll just chalk that up as a +1 regardless.

Here are some final stats that someone who called up the place where the party was reported:

I called the Legion.
His grandson got on the phone
50 Bouqets of Flowers
20 Cakes
Countless cards.
He said 5 UPS have pulled up today with stuff for him.
They also said the local Postal Mail had 2 trucks full of cards.
I almost cried!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He told me to pass along to Anonymous a
“Thank You”

Turns out that the internet can be a good place, who knew?

Meteor or UFO?

No, that’s a meteor, but if I had seen that at first glance I would have been freaked out, then like holy shit that is awesome!
I stayed up till well into the morning on days looking for meteor showers, and didn’t get to see anything. Seeing that would have made my day. To bad they are less easy to predict.
