Pikachu Mascot

Japan World Cup Jersey

The World Cup starts this week over in Brazil, and The United States has a berth in it apparently, go US.  That’s not the point of this post.  The point of this post is to showcase Japan.  Their official team mascot for the World Cup is Pikachu.  You know, the electric Pokemon.  I like it, strangely.

It does however bring up some interesting questions pertaining to Tokyo’s hosting of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.  Like, will they build their own Pokemon team of mascots?  Personally, being a true fan back to the olden days, I would perfer they stuck with the original starters.  CharmanderSquirtle, and Bulbasaur.  But that’s me.

Gotta Make ’em All

Reddit user I_donut_exist has started the ardous process of making LEGO models of Pokemon.  I don’t know if he plans on making models of all 719 of them (there’s a new one since that video was made, obviously), or only the original 151.  Either way, he’s got along way to go from the 13 generation 1 guys he’s made so far.

I gotta say, these are pretty damn impressive.  Sure I decided to post 2 pretty unknown Pokemon, but these are the models I think are the most ace:

Then of course we have Blastoise, the turtle king.

Take a look at the other 10 over on Imgur.  Then be impressed.  I hope he continues his work and makes at least the rest of the original 151.  And knowing how LEGO has been teaming up with licensed projects in the past few years, I’m surprised they haven’t done this yet.  With the recent downfall of Nintendo, this could seriously pad the bottom line for them, that’s for sure.  They’d be printing money again.

The Pokemon Master

Google has a long history with April Fools pranks.  In fact, their most famous one (which wasn’t a joke at all, but seemed like one at the time), Gmail,  is turning 10 today. That’s not to bad if you ask me.

However, this year, Google may have outdid themselves.  Integrating Pokemon with Google Maps, and having to go out and catch em all, well that was ingenious.  I only wish that the time frame was longer then the day and a half that they’ve allotted.  Or perhaps it will be something that is always available, but the contest ends tomorrow.  Either way, I can see hours of time wasted doing this in the coming day.

Pokemon Fusion (Kinda Stupid)

I don’t know if I’ve ever posted about the Pokemon Fusion site before, I know it’s been around for years, but it was never really interesting.  That is until I stumbled across this collection of images.

As a general rule of thumb, I don’t post fan art for a variety of reasons that include, but are not limited to:

  • It’s stupid
  • It takes something that’s a sprite and 8-bit, and adds an stupid amount of detail
  • It’s stupid
  • None of it looks good

That being said, I still agree with everything above, but I think there are some merits with the below pictures:

Zubro is an example of a really creepy Pokemon fusion.  Both it the sprite example, and the fan art.  However, it’s also a great example of adding a stupid amount of detail:

If you try and fuse Starmie or Staryu with anyone else, it looks extra creepy, and extra awesome:

The fan art of Starking looks like a Digimon (and let’s be honest, Mega Evolution is basically a rip off of Digivolution)

There are 718 of them?!

CollegeHumor’s Favorite Funny Videos

You might not have realized it, but in the 18 (yes, that’s probably more of a shock to you), but there are now 718 individual Pokemon.  And if you account for certain different forms of some species, and then the whole shiny vs. normal color scheme you quickly get into the thousands.  In all that time, the Poke-rap has more or less sat untouched since the 4th generation.  Well, the good people at College Humor remedied that for us.  By telling us what all 718 of them are called.  I’m more interested in learning how some of these names are pronounced (or tried to pronounced)  There are some gen 1 guys in there that are clearly said wrong.

Stimble Stumble Stamble

It’s winter, and there’s snow on the ground, and its the same snow that’s been on the ground since December, it never goes away, more just keeps coming.  Well, that’s exactly like what the stumbles are.  The internet just keeps coming up with more and more awesome, amazing, funny, meme, and wrong things for me to find and gather together in a post for you all to enjoy.

MOAR STUMBLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s stumbles time.  First one of 2011.  And how can we make 2011 any better then 2010, well, with more wrongness.  Sadly, I don’t think this quite matches up to some of the previous wrong stumbles.  But it has some awesome things in it, so that’s good enough.

Anyway, take a gander after the link if you want to look at them, and if you’re reading these via RSS, no clicking needed, enjoy.

The 2010 Olympic Stumble Event!

Its time again for the best stumbles in the history of the internet.  These fine stumbled pictures are up there for humor, love, wrongness, Nazi, and cute.  Only one can take home the gold, and end the post.  That picture has the responsibility to hold off the other stumbles until i write the next one, whenever that is.  So without further rambling on my part,
