Ebru Art

Ebru Art, also known as Paper Marbling is an old (though, how old is up for debate), method of creating decorative designs by floating paints on water and then swirling them around.  I could try and explain it more, but I think  it’s better if you just watch the below videos.  Seeing is easier, trust me:

There are lots of videos and art on Garipay, you should check it out.

Flowers Blooming

Time-lapse videos are an interesting bunch.  They’re cool because they combine together a static scene over a long length of time and show how it changes.  Oftentimes the time lapses are of man made projects, or of clouds.  But Photographer Thomas Blanchard has done it with flowers.

Over 9,000(!!!) individual photos of 21 different flowers blooming.  He also decided to photograph them in front of colorful wallpaper, instead of the stark white, or dark black backgrounds that things like these are usually done in front of. I like it, it’s only a few minutes long, why don’t you watch it?  It’ll be good for you.

Paper Art

I’ve posted before some of the amazing things people can do with stacked paper.  While those dealt with the limited canvas of a book, here is some art that’s made free-form.  And it really shows, I mean, just look at this header photo I’m about to post!

paper hole

It’s hard to tell just how deep/tall this pile of paper is (perspective!), but it still looks pretty ace.  I also like the 3-D flowers too:

This is all the work of Maud Vantours, and she has some more designs on her site.  But i really like the 2 I posted above best.

The Lawn of Weeds

Or Operation Dandelion, as the author likes to describe it.  Dandelions for those who don’t know are one of the most annoyingly satisfying weeds ever.

Anyway, this guy’s lawn looked like this:

And he got a notice on his door from the town/neighborhood/someone official:

Honestly, that yard doesn’t look that bad, I’ve seen worse, but hey, some towns are worse off then others.  Anyway, he decided to plant a few hundred/thousand dandelions, on purpose.  Most of the time, people try to get rid of dandelions this guy is planting them.  Up until I saw this site I didn’t even know you could buy dandelion seeds, seeing as how there is an entire row at Home Depot devoted to poisons for them, but nonetheless, he found some and bought them, and is going to plant them.

Unfortunately, this is a waiting thing now, and we just have to wait till spring comes around before we can see just how many he planted.  I hope it’s alot.

Personally, I would have gone with Daffodils, but, those being bulbs, are slightly more expensive then dandelions, plus, Daffodils are like, official flowers that people will enjoy, and that’s not the point of this experiment.
