Crazy Underground Waterslide

Not quite underground, but close enough. I’m not sure how this came up, but while scrolling through videos in bed last night looking for cool and interesting things to watch while falling asleep this video showed up.

Now, my searches have been Geodesic Dome, terrariums, gardening, wood working, and home building focused. I’m not 100% sure where this came from, but it was interesting. And my wife and I spent the 20 minutes watching it and being amazed at the way these two (though, I guess 3) individuals turned the jungle into something else.

How, we’re not quite sure. Why, even less sure. But 35 seconds into the video we were equal parts confused and impressed, and at that point, dedicated to the cause. It’s interesting, and cool, you should dedicate yourself to the 20 minutes watching these guys build an underground palace, because they can.

Imagine building something like this in America. Well, I’m sure that you could somewhere, or something close enough to it anyway. One day that will be me. And trust me, when that happens, this blog will be no more. Because why would I be blogging when I could be enjoying my underground natural waterslide house?

Halo 64

Last month we saw the first trailer for Halo Infinite and it looked, underwhelming. A few weeks ago we heard that Halo Infinite is being pushed back to 2021 and I think that’s for the better.

Last week, twitter user @Hoolopee recreated the trailer in the style of Super Mario 64. Now, I don’t want to say that it’s better, but the retorness of it makes it enjoyable. Would I play this, probably as a novelty for a day or two, but I don’t think I would go as crazy all out for achievements as I currently do with Halo as it exists now.

It’s still pretty ace looking if I were to say so myself. But it also shows just how far technology has progressed since the mid 1990s.

Video Chat to the Rescue

https://youtu.be/Fs-PQoxQzno

Yea, this is pretty frekin ace. Yes, I like the Backstreet Boys, deal with it. This video is an awesome way to be stuck within quarantine isolation. Plus it’s perfect to get stuck in your head.

It’s also amazing to see how much some of the aged, and how some look still pretty young. Anyway, enjoy this on your Monday.

Drifting Trains

There really isn’t anything else to say regarding this video except that it’s pretty ace and you should watch it.

If only real life trains could be this crazy, we would have some killer new Olympic sports.

All of you people out there with these wooden train tracks, I’m looking to you to put something together which is 100x better than this video. I expect it. All 7 readers of this blog.

Thunder Baby

Sure, it’s not 2 Cellos, but it’s still an amazing rendition of Thunderstruck. I do say though, it probably took way longer than would have liked to edit this. Video editing sucks.

Surreal Joshua Tree

Last week it snowed in Joshua Tree National Park. That’s rare because it’s a desert, but it’s also pretty frekin awesome looking as attested by this 360 video:

This was shot on the new GoPro Max. I remember that GoPro was trying to get into the 360 camera business for awhile but when I was going to Alaska they weren’t ready. I think it’s safe to say that this camera is pretty good and might be worth the upgrade eventually.

I wish I could get to a National Park right after or during a snowfall. I was in Yosemite a few years ago and there was snow on the ground, but nothing fresh. I was also in Sequoia and Kings Canyon the same time, and similarly there was snow on the ground. The closest would probably be the trip to Mount Rainier last year, it did snow on us for a bit, but only up in the elevation. That was pretty cool.

Poke-Ball

I remember 23 years ago when Pokemon Red and Blue came out.  I remember playing it on this long Thanksgiving weekend.  My brother and I didn’t know what we were doing, but we were having a blast.  We only had one Gameboy at the time (the giant OG one) so we had to take turns playing while the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was on in the background.  I remember being hooked on it though.  Absolutely hooked.  We played for hours, days even.  Somehow, some way latter on in the year without the internet we heard about the rare-candy trick and we immediately went to power up our guys.  To this day, Red is the only game where I caught all 150 of them.  I’ve played most of the mainline games over the years too – Gold, Emerald, Black, Heart Gold, and X.  I skipped Diamond/Pearl and Sun/Moon, I’m not sure why, probably because other things were happening and I didn’t have time for the grind.  I never got as hard core into it as others, grinding for the absolute best IV/EV pokemon who knew moves he couldn’t.  That’s just too much work, I wanted to catch them all, and I’m happy to let someone else be the very best.

Wooden Tower Domino Fun

Watching things like this is satisfying, that’s all I have to say:

It took 16 hours to construct this behemoth which stands at nearly 20 feet tall using 22,000 planks of wood (ok, not dominoes, but still ace).  I don’t know which is more impressive, putting the whole thing together without a misstep which caused destruction, or the engineering necessary to get everything to fall in order without knocking other things out.  The final seconds of the collapse, when the entire tower implodes, that’s impressive because I was on the edge of my seat waiting and hoping that one of those sticks wouldn’t fall incorrectly and knock something else off balance.

Crazy Tesla Coil Gun

Ok, last time there was a LASER Gun, today it’s a Tesla Coil.  It’s ridiculous.  The Tesla Coil is not quite as dangerous, but also completely terrifyingly dangerous, science is weird like that.  Anyway, this channel is pretty neat, you should watch it to learn more about things.

Normal Items, turned into Space Ships

Instagram artist Spacegooose has a unique claim to fame, taking ordinary every day objects and re-imagining them as space ships. I first found him via this reddit post of a shampoo bottle.

Here’s a unique take on a whisk:

He doesn’t only do objects into space ships, he does original space ships, as well as visions of famous star ships of science fiction.  I never had the artistic ability to do stuff this detailed, but I did have an imagination which would provide all sorts of things.  I love reading about space ships and all the ridiculous stuff that goes on them when aerodynamics don’t mean anything.

You should check out his ArtStation while you’re at it.  He’s pretty talented.
