laser printer

0

Yesterday we found a laser printer.  It was beautiful.  Extremely heavy, and at least 10 years old, it was nice.  We looked kind of skethy carrying it from the loading dock to our room, but hey, thats what we do best.

I’ll get some photos of us taking it appart later this afternoon.  And some photos of us having fun with the toner, oh man is that fun.

Then there’s the microwaving of the various parts, that was amazing too!

1

In an effort to promote the next release of Windows Vista outside of the US, Microsoft is offering a chance for users in Europe and the Middle East to win prizes if they can guess the launch date of the next version of its Windows OS, according to a company website.
In addition to a first-prize trip for one person to spend three nights in a four-star hotel and attend the launch – the location of which has not been disclosed – Microsoft is offering second-, third- and fourth-prize winners an Xbox 360, and fifth- to 10th-place winners an Xbox Core System.

Wow.

Anyone got any guesses?

My sources say spring 2007 most likely…

Google Desktop 3

0

Google released a new version of their desktop search today.

Beta 3, it offers some new features, my favorite so far is the ability to drag any pannal i want onto my desktop.

You can also send pannals, or your entire sidebar to a friend via googletalk intergrated right in the sidebar, jst drag it to your buddy.

A cool feature which i havent yet tried out allows you to search the contents of one computer, from a different computer, provided both are connected to the internet, and you have a google account.

You can use advanced search features to search your computer, the preferences page is totally redone.

Google could dole out up to $1bn over three years for the rights to have the Google Toolbar pre-installed on Dell PCs.The PC maker confirmed today that it is piloting sales of PCs pre-installed with Google software. It was smoked out by the Wall Street Journal, which today published a well-sourced article on the battle for PC “real estate”, conducted by Microsoft, Google and Yahoo!.”

That would certiantly push google into the minds of millions of other people (those sad few who dont have the internet maybe?)

As with the last one, small prizes will be given out every 100,000th downloaded, and a grand prize for the 1,000,000,000th.

The small prizes are a 4gb black iPod  nano with $100 gift card to iTunes Music Store.  The grand prize is a 20inch iMac (wonder if its a new intel one?), 10 60gb iPod videos, and a $10,000 gift card to iTunes Music Store.  In addition to those, the grand prize winner will have a Full Ride scholarship made by Apple at a major music school for the future generations of musicans.

So, get downloading, tell me when it gets to 99,990,000 ok,  i want to get some of these things.

French military victories…broken?

2

Could it be? The oldest trick in the book, the most widely known spoof, no longer works?

Typing: “French military victories” into Google, then pressing I’m Feeling Lucky brought you to a Google Error page: “Did you mean: French military defeats

Instead of bringing you to that error page, it now loads a mirror of that page, hosted on Albino Black Sheep. It looks like someone made a page, and got it to become the number one result, and be brought straight there. That’s kind of sad.

I remember when I first was told about it, it worked, and it’s worked forever, I think Google should change it back, if only so that the rest of the world can have the amusement that we’ve had.
