Alternate History Thursday: Rosenberg, H-Bomb

Sugar Ray, Panmunjom, Brando, The King and I, and the The Catcher in the Rye.  Those are the words to 3rd block of years in Billy Joel’s classic We Didn’t Start The Fire.  I don’t care what you think, this is a great song, and so I’m embedding the video below, watch it, watch it now:

Now, onto the meat and potatoes of this post, today marks the 62nd anniversary of the denotation of Ivy Mike.  for those of you that don’t remember, Ivy Mike was the world’s welcome mat into the land of the hydrogen bomb.  10.4 megatons of commie-killing power.  The world was never the same.

In our alternate history, the US is still the first to market with an H-Bomb, but it’s not as large, only 7Mt, but it’s still a mighty show of power.  The Allied forces of Europe eventually build their own out of parity, but for no other real reason.  Like our current reality, it’s a back and forth war of whose is bigger?
