LEDs from silicon
Nov.12, 2006 in
awesome, computer, electronic news
This is interesting, Shimei Semiconductor Co has developed a way to grow LEDs on silicon wafers, and it was a blue LED, and they plan on making then available by April 2007. This means that prices for LEDs could fall drastically in the coming months,
it kinda means that the LEDs will have a longer lifespan too, but at 100,000+ hours already, who would be able to tell/care.
Rather interesting, espicaly since i love LEDs.
