Red-tag Joe has a nice DIY project on hacking a Christmas Light String into usable indicidual LEDs. Reasons for doing this:
A. Its cheaper. ($25.00 for a string of 70 blue!)
B. Its fun. (come on, DIY everyone loves it!)
