Sony Continues to Baffle the World!
It seems that the only difference between the $499 and $599 PS3 isn’t just the HDD size.
the $499 model will lack support for Memory Sticks, SD and Compact Flash cards, no built-in Wi-Fi and will surprisingly have the HDMI output removed (necessary for achieving the much bragged about 1080p screen resolution).
I figured that Sony’s entire rationale for a $500 game console was that it could be marketed as a cheap Blu-ray player…but now you won’t even get 1080p out of the $500 model…they’re forcing [all 10 people who have 1080p capable TV's] to buy the more expensive one. Even ignoring that, the games will look worse.
Honestly, I would expect something like this from Microsoft, but I kinda thought Sony was a little more on the ball.
“Spend $600 or your PS3 won’t look as good as mine”…I wonder how many $500 they’ll even make. Seems to me it would cost Sony even more money by producing two units with actual physical differences, not just a HDD.

Maybe sooner or later you’ll get the idea out of your head the Microsoft sucks, and finaly realize they know what they are doing and make very good products.
